JAKARTA
Jakarta is an international studio-based music project formed in 2019, with official releases beginning in 2020. Conceived as a collaborative supergroup, the project brought together recording artists from multiple countries, unified under a shared songwriting and production vision.
The project is anchored by bassist, songwriter, and producer Joey Dolan, who also handled mixing and mastering duties. Jakartas releases were issued through Syncro Sound, emphasizing consistency in sound design and artistic direction across the catalog.

Each album reflects Jakartas core stylistic identity: pop-forward songwriting blended with light dance rhythms, subtle soul influences, and occasional reggae inflection. Lyrically, the project centers on personal empowerment, the realities of love, and gratitude toward a higher power, favoring clarity and emotional accessibility over trend-driven themes.
In 2025, the full Jakarta catalog received new remasters, updating the sonic presentation with modern balance, depth, and loudness standards while preserving the original performances. These remasters reintroduce the recordings to a new audience with refined sound styling suitable for contemporary playback environments.
During its active years, Jakarta achieved documented radio airplay across seven continents, including major-market stations and a wide range of college radio outlets. While operating largely outside the mainstream spotlight, the project developed a reputation as an underground favorite, resonating with listeners who value songwriting craft, melodic sophistication, and a polished yet human feel often associated with sophisti-pop and contemporary adult music.
The Jakarta project became inactive in 2024, though unreleased recordings from the original era remain, leaving the possibility open for future archival or post-era releases.
